Welcome to the Pleasant Valley High School Library!
Library Hours: 7:15 AM - 2:15 PM
Library Mission
Ensure students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.
The Pleasant Valley School District library collections are centered around meeting the needs of a diverse population of students through curricular connections and for students’ personal growth.
The library aims to provide equitable access to quality information resources that support PV curriculum. The library affords students, teachers, and staff, access to a rich collection of reading and reference materials through traditional books, eBooks, databases, and other digital resources. Our databases, eBooks, and digital resources are available 24-7 from any device or computer.
Library Philosophy
The program is built upon the belief that the library should be an active learning space, serving as an academic and cultural center of the school. The inviting, student-centered environment fosters a love of reading as well as creating. The facility provides equitable access to diverse materials for research and personal enrichment; its instructional program encourages self-exploration and independence. Through integrated, standards-aligned, inquiry-based instruction, the library fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and multiple literacies. It also provides students with opportunities for creating, publishing, and sharing new knowledge, while guiding them in the ethical use of information. These experiences prepare students for college and careers, as well as life-long learning. Ultimately, the library plays a central role in the educational program of the school, providing leadership, collaboration, access, and advocacy of the school library program.
